Maria Nenciu, CFIC – Founder, Lease Auditor
Maria Nenciu is a Forensic Lease Auditor whose focus is to help commercial Tenants control costs and increase productivity and efficiency. Working with reputable companies in Canada and United States, Maria provides in-depth lease audit and advisory services throughout the lease’s life-cycle, making sure that the Tenant’s best interests are at the forefront of everything she does. Throughout her decade long career as a lease auditor, Maria has single handedly generated millions of dollars in savings for office, retail, and industrial Tenants. The process is simple and non-confrontational. In most cases the Landlord is unaware of the errors that occurred and typically, they are quick to acknowledge and correct the oversights. Prior to this role, Maria fulfilled different roles ranging from Accountant to Controller to Senior Bilingual Property Accountant for private real estate firms in Montreal and reputable REITs in Toronto. Maria is an Affiliate Member with the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada, aiming for the ACFI designation followed by the American ACFE in the near future. Prior, she successfully completed Financial Accounting courses at McGill University, in Montreal.
Laura Bedal, BBA, CPA, CMA
Laura Bedal is a professional accountant (CPA, CMA) who has had a focus on operational efficiencies and helping her business partners make solid decisions with the aid of financial data. After 15 years in manufacturing, of which approximately half was in Plant Controllership, Laura decided to transition to a role that allowed her to sample different industries. It is here that she had her first opportunity to work in real estate and gained her first experiences with property accounting. She spent more than 5 years maintaining the books of the Landlord and working with the tenants to understand the costs that were being presented. In that time Laura became well versed in the lease clauses and would review the work of her team to ensure compliance to the lease. Laura has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
